Niel Bally (b. 1951) is an artist and teacher born in Wantage, Berkshire. He studied at the Ruskin School of Art, Oxford, in 1969, and later at the Fine Art Department of West Surrey College of Art & Design, Farnham, from 1969 to 1974. From 1975 to 1986, Bally taught at several Inner London Education Authority Institutes, including Camden, Central, and Putney, as well as at Canterbury, Chelsea, City and Guilds, Kingston, and Wimbledon Schools of Art. Between 1986 and 1987, he lived and worked in Mexico and the United States, followed by periods in London (1987–1992), South Africa (1992–1995), and subsequently in London and Talgarth, Powys.
Bally’s work has been exhibited widely, including at the RA Summer Exhibition from 1975, the Whitechapel Open in 1978, Artists in Adult Education at Woodlands Art Gallery in 1982, and at England & Co in 1991. He was also a participant in the Hunting Prize Awards from 1996. His later solo exhibitions included the Brian Sinfield Gallery, Burford (1991), Canvas Gallery (1993), and studio shows at Great Western Studios from 1995.
