BUNU, SAMKELO

Samkelo Bunu (b. 1972, Butterworth) is a South African contemporary artist known for his vibrant exploration of identity, culture, and social dynamics. He studied Fine Art at the University of Cape Town, majoring in printmaking. In 1992, Bunu participated in a student exhibition at the University of Australia. He later worked at Border Technikon in East London and was awarded the 1996 Merit Award in the Volkskas Bank Atelier Competition. Bunu’s work is distinguished by his use of bold colours, patterns, and textures, reflecting the complexities of modern African life. His art has been exhibited both in South Africa and internationally.
